Join us for the monthly Artist Exchange! Local artist Jerry Romasco leads this month’s artist exchange.
This is a meet-up for local artists and art institutions in Shelton and the surrounding areas to exchange ideas and build community. Have a glass of wine or tea and mingle.
Description:
Art is a practice that helps us connect with our humanity, and it is fundamentally against forces that would dominate or dehumanize (racism, militarism, patriarchy, etc). This month’s Artist Exchange will focus on sharing our art, as well as our inspiration and what we can learn about being better humans together.
Prompt: bring art of any kind you’ve created, or want to perform, that is either a) subversive to dehumanizing forces, and/or b) speaks to the best parts of being human, like love, hope, joy, etc.
How it’ll work:
1) Participants will bring some art they created or want to perform, new or old. It can be any kind of art.* You will also share what a) inspired you, b) your experience in creating/performing that art, or c) the message you want to share through that art.
2) Each participant will briefly share about and present/perform their art. Timing will depend on how many signups there are.
*Poetry, sculpture, skit/monologue, painting, comedy, whatever! There will be a mic available. For any music or video, please bring all you need to share with us.
Jerry, our facilitator, will lead a brief reflection at the start to frame the evening together.
Questions? Please submit them via this Google form, and Jerry will follow up with you. Please also use the Google form if you want to sign up to share. Pre-signup is encouraged to help plan the time, but it is not required. You also don’t have to present anything to come enjoy the time together!
