Exploring Senryu: A Japanese Poetry Writing Workshop with TRL Librarian Kristine Techavanich

Senryu is a three-line Japanese form of poetry that delves into human nature and the quirks of our actions–and is often humorous. Japanese Americans from Oyster Bay regularly composed senryu poems and held meetings and competitions both locally and regionally.

In connection with the Mountain of Shell exhibit (May 23-June 30) showcasing poems by Yukiko Abo and Miyoko Sato at the Shelton Library, we invite you to join us for a session of writing and sharing senryu poems Fridays from 12 to 1 PM at Marmo.
