Writing Workshop with Charlotte Gross

  • Marmo 217 W. Cota Street Shelton United States (map)

EMBODIED WRITING | Reconnecting to Ourselves and the Living World Through Stories

In this workshop, we will get out of our heads and into our animal selves to write the stories only we can tell. What is our sensory, sensual experience of our surroundings? In what ways are we woven into the ecosystems we inhabit? And in what ways might we explore and map our inner terrain like we do the land we walk on?

Together we will respond to prompts and writing invitations; craft short fiction and/or essays; and offer each other encouraging feedback. Whether you have an existing writing practice or are new to writing creatively but are seeking a more meaningful connection with your inner self and the natural world, this course is for you.

Materials provided, but if you have a particular writing utensil and notebook you love, please bring them.

This workshop is geared for ages 18+

Free/public

Charlotte Gross is a writer and outdoor educator living in Truckee, CA on Washoe land. She has worked as a fire lookout, a backpacking guide in the High Sierra, and a Nordic ski patroller. Her stories emerge from the power of elemental forces and the cycles that shape our landscape. The characters in her stories find their way back to connection with the living world while tracing inner terrain of love, grief, and loss both personal and ecological. Through all of her work, Charlotte depicts the animacy of the world we are part of and offers ways of returning to that alive-ness. Her work has been published by Salamander, Dartmouth Alumni Magazine, and Whitefish Review, among others, and can be found at charlottelgross.com
